We not only work on our own films, but also provide rigging and animation services for other companies on occasion. This was a really fun project to work on, lead by the very talented digital artist Thomas Mangold who directed everything from Germany. We rigged and animated all of the ingot characters (the cylidrical fellas) and crowds. Hats off to the rendering team, they did a fantastic job.
A short film informing NHS patients of the new Friends and Family Test questionnaire which is now being introduced in G.P surgeries, dentists and other health care facilities.
We created these friendly and colourful characters in keeping with the simple and approachable feel of the film. As with the previous NHS films, we came up with the concepts and original ideas to best illustrate the clients brief.
The sound design and music was created by Aaron Zahl who also worked with us on the NHS Health and Social care film.
We created this crazy cut out world for NHS England to promote the possibilities that come with a wide-ranging digital service. The star of the show Egbot even had his own cardboard cut out displayed at Expos across the country!
This is a short film which we had a lot of fun making, it was a short turn around job but one where the limitations became the strengths of the final film, choosing a simple idea, paring the film down to the essentials needed for the story, and bringing in a bunch of talented people to help!
Cor lummy, we only went and won something with our (very) short film On The Bus! Huge thanks to all the lovely folks at Encounters who organise such an awesome festival in Bristol every year!
Matinai recently took part in the 1st Encounters 0117 Hour Film Challenge, made in conjunction with the opening of the MShed, Bristol’s newest museum. There were 30 finished films entered, with the majority being live action, due to the difficulties of making an animation in 117 hours! Our short film ‘On The Bus’ received a commendation on the night, as well as some positive comments in reviews, and it was a great exercise in time management 😉
Matt was asked back for the third time to lecture on face rigging and animation on the MA Computer Animation course at Bournemouth University. He spent a couple of days going through various techniques both tried and tested and with the advent of Softimage ICE some new ways to speed up workflow and create reusable rigs. We will try to post up some further detail and tutorials on the subjects covered soon.
As always the student work seems to improve in quality every year, and there were a number of impressive projects taking shape already. Looking forward to the graduation film show!
A couple of spec pitch images for Maverick Productions ‘Big Yin’ featuring Billy Connelly travelling along Route 66.
We recently completed work for Maverick Television on the Primetime Channel 4 series, Animal Madhouse. The majority of the work centered around instructional graphics depicting various animal ailments, clips of which you can see on the work page. We also produced a number of illustrations for the snappy title sequence.
We’ve finally joined the stereoscopic 3d party with a project involving a 3d hummingbird for Exposure 4. Unfortunately we can’t show the footage yet but hope to get something on the main website soon. It was pretty fun to work with stereo anaglyph glasses on all day!
